Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

The 2007 Rolling Shiraz is deep red in color with purple lights. Rich forest berry and ripe plum aromas are supported by supple spices. Dark berry and blackcurrant flavors are underpinned by a lick of vanillan oak. This Shiraz reveals a silky, smooth texture and lovely balance. Pair with beef fillet with wild mushrooms or an aged parmesan

Critical Acclaim

"Strong crimson; has a supple, medium-bodied palate with an abundance of blackberry fruit well supported by ripe tannins and integrated oak; attractive wine. Great value. Screwcap."

This wine is everything the winemaker claims it to be - silky smooth - full of beautiful plum colors and aromas - delicious. Hard to believe a 92-pt wine was available at $10 - but it is true - excellent wine - decant it and let sit for 20 minutes or so - I will order again...

Learn About Syrah/Shiraz

The home base of Syrah is the Northern Rhone, where it creates the exclusive wines of Hermitage and Cote Rotie. On the less pricy side, the Rhone makes Syrah-based wines in Crozes...
