Wine Style Guide
Red wines that are more fruit-forward and lighter in tannin and body.
Medium bodied reds that go down easy, with smooth tannins and supple fruit.
Wines where earthy and/or spicy dominate the flavors – typically medium to full body.
Full bodied wines that have concentrated fruit and are higher in alcohol and/or tannins. Some need age.
Alcohol By Volume: 14.4%
Alcohol By Volume Guide
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.
Complex Bing cherry and ripe plum
aromas combine with hints of spice
and forest floor in the fruit-forward yet
subtly earthy nose of this Pinot Noir.
Vibrant, juicy cherry and cranberry
flavors mingle with black plum and
delicate traces of black tea and
cloves enhance the long-lasting,
supple and silky finish.
"Very fine and complex. This deeply flavored Pinot Noir is powerful, but it’s also elegantly silky, which is the magic combination. Shows perfectly ripe cherry and raspberry fruit, with gorgeous overtones of oak and spices. Beautiful now, and will age well through 2014 or so."
"Wonderfully supple and very elegant and harmonious, delivering ripe wild strawberry, raspberry and cherry flavors that are fresh and bright, with details of smoke, licorice, fresh herb and brewed tea. Drink now through 2016. 1,100 cases made. "
This wine was good the first day, better the second, and on the third day when I usually taste a wine before pouring it out an amazing thing happened. This wine was terrific on the third day. Better than the first two. This suggests the wine may need a lot more decanting on the first day to bring out all its flavors. I changed my rating from 4 to 5 and promptly ordered 4 more bottles.
