Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Critical Acclaim

"The purity of this wine comes through with the utmost clarity on the bouquet with fragrant blackcurrant/cassis aromas, the medium- to full-bodied palate a great example of Margaret River cabernet, the focused fruit supported by tannins that, while firm, are in no way out of balance."
96 Points

"There's a lot to like in this effort: ample dark fruit, complex notions of tea leaves and dried grasses, and a richly textured, long finish. The wine is medium bodied and not very tannic, making it easy to sip repeatedly."

The 6 bottles of Robert Oatley Cabernet I received must have been exposed to some extreme temperatures during shipping. I should know better that to ship wine in Florida in June.

Learn About Robert Oatley Map ItMap It

Famed Australian Vintners, Bob and Sandy Oatley, founders of Rosemount Estate, began their next wine venture to pay homage to the many terrific regions of Australia and the grapes most suited to the terroir.

Wherever he makes wine, Bob Oatley's underlying philosophy is to find the right vineyard with the right soil and match it to the right variety.

With the guidance of winemaker, Larry Cherubino, Robert Oatley Vineyards shares the expression of regions, such as Margaret River, McLaren Vale, Yarra Valley, Great Southern and Central Ranges.

Learn About Margaret River

Located in the southwest area of Western Australia, the country's largest state, Margaret River wine growing region is on a peninsula jutting out into the Indian Ocean. The climate is reminiscent of Bordeaux in some ways, leading many winemakers to plant grapes of that nature, such as Cabernet Sauvignon & Merlot. Other varieties that have found results are Chardonnay & Riesling.

Learn About Cabernet Sauvignon

Perhaps that title is due to its ability to grow worldwide in a number of climates, or to the fact that it produces wine with such character yet such diversity. Either way, this grape is responsible, as a whole or a partner, for some of the greatest wines in the world. In Bordeaux,...
