Robert Mondavi Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2007
Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley, California
Wine Style Guide
Red wines that are more fruit-forward and lighter in tannin and body.
Medium bodied reds that go down easy, with smooth tannins and supple fruit.
Wines where earthy and/or spicy dominate the flavors – typically medium to full body.
Full bodied wines that have concentrated fruit and are higher in alcohol and/or tannins. Some need age.
Alcohol By Volume: 15.3%
Alcohol By Volume Guide
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.
Profound and intense, this Cabernet casts aromas of dark, concentrated fruit, warm vanilla and star anise around a powerful mid-palate of vibrant huckleberry, blackberry and currant flavors. Its well-defined structure is accentuated by notes of freshly cut oregano, lemon verbena and bay leaves woven into the firm, seamless tannins. Continuing in the tradition of bold yet graceful Napa Valley Cabernets, this wine captivates with a lengthy, enduring finish.
Varietal blend: 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, 1% Petite Verdot, 1% Malbec
"It is hard to find a better value than the outstanding 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon (which may even be discounted for under $25 a bottle). This sleeper of the vintage exhibits an opaque ruby/purple color as well as loads of cassis, blackberry, graphite, and cedar notes. Full-bodied, rich, and concentrated with silky tannins and a lush, generous constitution, this beauty is capable of lasting 10-15 years."
The Wine Advocate
"Good deep ruby-red. Aromatic nose combines currant, flowers, menthol, mint and fresh herbs (I might have said garrigue). Then sweet and lush but suave and not at all exaggerated, with very good tannic support to the red fruit and lavender flavors."

Wonderful. Buy this again if it goes on sale.

excellent full bodied red
I have no idea what the reviewers previous were drinking out of, a boot? I love this wine enough that I bought a lot more.
A solid Cab.
More depth and complexity than the 05 or 06. Exoctic with wild blackberry, cassis, and cedar. A distinctive sytle that always pleases. Great QPR.
Good quality solid cab from Mondavi. I will give it 90 too.

Actually, 3.25 stars. Color, this wine has a clear nice ruby red color. Nose, there are a lot of black fruits going on. I am picking blackberry, black licorice, toasted oak, vanilla. The nose is very seductive. Midpalate, this wine fills the mouth, nice complexity, full bodied. Finish, this wine has a considerably long pleasurable finish, comes with firm vibrant and smooth tannins, black fruits are still dancing on my palate, well balanced. It is very well made. This wine is worth the $20 you are spending. Good job, RM! I am 90+ on this effort. Happy drinking!
Nice stay at home wine.
A solid cab, almost worth its $20 price.
We really love cabs and I purchased this one based on reviews and the 90-point rating at $20 value. I found the alcohol and tannins a little too forward. While this is a value priced bottle, I have had many other cabs that are $20 or less, but much more enjoyable to drink.

It's hard not to think of Napa Valley when thinking of California wines. The region is, after all, the one that brought world recognition to California wine making. The area was settled by a few choice wine families in the 1960's who bet that the wines of the area would grow and flourish. They were right. The Napa wine industry really took off in the 1980's, when vineyard...

Perhaps that title is due to its ability to grow worldwide in a number of climates, or to the fact that it produces wine with such character yet such diversity. Either way, this grape is responsible, as a whole or a partner, for some of the greatest wines in the world. In Bordeaux,...
