Riseccoli Saeculum 1997

Barbera from Tuscany, Italy

Item No. 120844
  • red wine
  • WS92

Winemaker's Notes

The wine is a "super-Tuscan blend" of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot and is produced from our best fruit and only in our best vintages. Considered Riseccoli's "cult wine" by many, it bears all the hallmarks associated with the most serious, sought-after and elegant wines in the world. Opaque and dark the wine has a restrained deep black cherry nose with hints of damson, liquorice, truffles and spice. This big wine finishes long and displays balance and great precision. In the greatest vintages it requires substantial cellaring before reaching its full potential.

Critical Acclaim

"Big blockbuster of a red. Dark ruby color. Intense aromas of roasted coffee, dark chocolate and ripe berries. Full body. Chewy and very rich. Long, long finish."
