Ripe raspberries, candied cherries, pomegranate and cinnamon join together in this New World Pinot that is long on velvety finish. Enjoy with grilled salmon or tuna.

Steve Reynolds' interest wine started when he was living in Germany as a young teenager. Wine was part of his daily life and his father often took the whole family on wine tasting trips through Europe. At the time, they'd curse him as they spent their day throwing rocks into a pond while he tasted. Now, of course, Steve is grateful to his father for sharing his passion and enthusiasm.

Steve and his father dreamt of building a winery together and their vision became reality when he and his wife Suzie traded Steve's dental practice for the life of wine growers in 1994. The property was a 100-year old chicken ranch that needed lots of love but was full of potential. It took them over a year to clean up and begin renovations. Steve acted as general contractor, and he built everything from the fences to the tasting room.

The winery is Tuscan style, one of Steve's father's favorite winegrowing regions, and it is surrounded by 10 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon, planted in 1996. They now create seven wines, including a Chardonnay, two Pinot Noirs (from the Russian River Valley and Los Carneros), a Merlot, the Estate Cabernet, a Reserve Stag's Leap Cabernet Sauvignon and a red wine blend appropriately called "Persistence".

As early as the 1970s Carneros became known as a source of terrific Pinot Noir, and was one of the first California regions to gain such a reputation. The combination of sunny days, cooling fog and thin clay soils are tailor-made for the variety. Another factor in Pinot Noir’s prominent place here is vintners’ willingness to experiment widely. The history of the grape in Carneros is marked by continuous research into clonal variations, viticultural techniques and site selection. Careful evaluation over time has revealed a signature flavor profile as well. Complex aromas and flavors of cherry, red berry, spice, earth and cola appear time and again in Carneros Pinot Noir. To this day the appellation remains one of California’s standard bearers for the variety.
