The grapes for Revolution come from the most revered sub-region of McLaren Vale, known as Seaview. This sub-region is where the best reds to come out of McLaren Vale are grown. The vines are relatively young at 5 years, but due to the extreme lack of soil nutrients & carefully regulated deficit irrigation practices, the vines are already producing voluptuous, Flavor packed & rich fruit, perfect for Revolution. The vines are hand pruned and crop at around 3 tons per acre.

International Wine Cellar - "Fresh cherry, blackberry and anise on the nose, with building spiciness and a smoky, floral quality; smells like a northern Rhone wine. Lush dark fruit flavors show liqueur-like power and depth, with bright acidity adding spine. Candied violet and licorice notes linger on the long, sappy, refreshingly spicy finish."
This project is born of Ben Hammerschlag's relationship with the Oliver family and in particular, with winemaker Corrina Rayment, who naturally fits into the group of young and progressive winemakers that permeate the Epicurean Wines portfolio. McLaren Vale is home to the oldest Australian vineyard, with grapes planted in 1838. It's a coastal area, the Indian Ocean bordering the west, which leads to a cooling factor that prevents the grapes from getting too hot. In all, the climate is a perfect one for the vines.
Notable FactsIn McLaren Vale, there are vines as far as the eye can see. As in other parts of Australia, Shiraz and Grenache are the top grapes of the region, with some Cabernet Sauvignon planted as well. While red rules, whites are able to hold their own here too. With the warm yet reasonable Mediterranean climate, white grapes like Chardonnay, Semillon and even some Sauvignon Blanc grow well. The wines are round and smooth and the producers in the regions are excellent.

Alcohol By Volume GuideMost wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer.
