Winemaker's Notes

The 2001 Grandpère Zinfandel is a deep ruby purple with heady aromas of blackberry, coffee, cracked pepper and spice. On the palate it displays ripe and dense tannins with black cherry, plum and anis flavors that finish long, lush and balanced with a hint of oak. A wine that you can enjoy now or age for 4 to 8 years. Grandpère Zinfandel comes from the Grandpère vineyard situated behind Renwood Winery in Plymouth, California. This 20-acre vineyard is home to the oldest clone of Zinfandel in America. Believed to be 130 years old, this unique clone produces one of the biggest spiciest Zinfandels. This vineyard is planted on its own rootstock and is classically head pruned. Tight berry clusters, deep concentrate flavors, this vineyard produces award-winning Zinfandels.
