Medium bodied reds that go down easy, with smooth tannins and supple fruit.

Earthy & Spicy

Wines where earthy and/or spicy dominate the flavors – typically medium to full body.

Big & Bold

Alcohol By Volume: 14.5%

Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

The Razor's Edge Shiraz is dark purple in color, yet bright and appealing in its clarity of fruit flavors, persisting on the finish against firm tannins.

Critical Acclaim

"A terrific value if you like the style, this is an impressively concentrated, slightly syrupy Shiraz imbued with potent cassis fruit and framed with vanilla oak. Surprisingly long on the finish. Drink now. Best Buy."

Under $14 for a 90 point wine? And a screwcap? And it has a title very close to an 80s movie classic staring Crispin Glover with Slayer dominating the soundtrack? Yeah, I was sold before I even drank it. The critical acclaims says, slightly syrupy Shiraz imbued with potent cassis fruit, but I think it was more peppery than fruity. It went great with salmon. If you're looking for fruity, toss a few blueberries in to bring out the fruity notes. De-lish.

Nice and spicy, paired very nicely with pasta and tomato-based sauce.

Tastes good, but so much sediment it was difficult to drink.

Deep purple color, nice fruit, peppery finish - a real winner at this price...

This is a good table wine - smooth, decently structured and cheap - but not a wine I come back to again and again.

I am a fan of Aussie shiraz. I am not a fan of this shiraz. Hard, dense top dominates, off flavors in a body that is itself unpleasant. Lacking in balance and, generally, any appeal to the palate. Enough sediment to choke on.

I would not dump it but I also would not buy this again. Stay away! Spend the 4$ more and get the Nine Stones from Evans Wine Company.
