Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

The 2007 Zen of Zin was sourced predominantly from Sonoma County with a selection of fruit brought in from several other premium California winegrowing regions. The rich, luscious mouthfeel, deep garnet color, and lofting aromas can be traced back to the enlightening blend of Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Syrah, and Carignane. Intended to represent the finest qualities of traditional Zinfandel, the wine is ripe and spicy with blackberry jam, chocolate, and toffee flavors. The nose is full of vanilla, plum, and spice. And as the perfect Zinfandel for those seeking something a little different, share a little Zen with prime rib, roast chicken, and laughter. Always laughter.

Blend: 84.5% Zinfandel, 8.5% Petite Sirah, 4 % Syrah, 3% Carignane

Maybe a little closer to a Cabernet in terms of sophistication. Starts out a bit dry, but after some breathing it gets nice and round, smooth and subtle. Perfectly balanced. Fear not Ravenswood lovers, this one is not so smooth to be boring. Do some double blind testing with some spendy Napa Cabs and watch the jaws drop when this wine is revealed.
