Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

This Oregon Pinot Gris shows lively mango and honeysuckle aromas, a lush mouthfeel and flavors of citrus and melon balanced by a refreshing acidity.

Critical Acclaim

"This is the first release from Rainstorm, part of the expanding Mariani Family presence in the Pacific Northwest. It's bone dry, immaculately fresh, and leesaged, with lovely depth and finesse. Flavors of melon and cucumber dominate, and the crisp acidity offers bracing minerality. Best Buy."

Style: Light & Crisp
I usually do not drink whites but, this was an experiment and what a pleasant one it was! Beautiful, light amber color. Crisp, not too dry, not too sweet. Just a very pretty wine. I will buy this one again!

Learn About Rainstorm

If diversity is the spice of life, then Oregon is an intriguing spice rack. There's much more to Rainstorm's home than snowy peaks, rugged coastlines, and foggy forests. There"s no better example of Oregon's diversity than the Willamette and Umpqua Valleys. Both regions produce spectacular Pinots. But the profound difference in weather patterns produces grapes that contribute to...

Learn About Umpqua Valley

The Umpqua Valley is much smaller than its northern neighbor, the Willamette Valley. Not necessarily in size, but in wine production. Like the Willamette Valley, the region lies between the Coast Range and the Cascade Range. The Umpqua Valley is a little bit drier than the Willamette, but less dry than the Rogue Valley. Notable Facts The soil is diverse and the grapes best suited...

Learn About Pinot Gris/Grigio

Pinot Gris/Grigio(PEE-noh gree/GREE-jee-oh) While Pinot Grigio is in fact the same grape as Pinot Gris (just the Italian take on it), the differences of wine they create can be immense. Pinot Gris' most popular and successful region is Alsace, France, an area of the country that actually puts the name of the grape on the label. Pinot Grigio is the Italian version of the grape,...
