Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

This "Original" bottling from Chenin Blanc master Bruwer Raats is crafted without the use of any oak in order to preserve the wine's vibrant fresh fruit character. Crisp and refreshing, this incredible value is packed with succulent aromas and flavors of green apple, peach, orange blossom and ginger.

Critical Acclaim

"Pale green-tinged yellow. Complex nose melds pear, guava, candied pineapple and minerals, plus a peppery nuance that reminded me of gruner veltliner. Supple and pliant but juicy; surprisingly dry and fat-free after the sweet nose. Lemon and ginger flavors carry nicely on the aftertaste. Just 2.2 grams of r.s. here."
