Medium bodied reds that go down easy, with smooth tannins and supple fruit.

Earthy & Spicy

Wines where earthy and/or spicy dominate the flavors – typically medium to full body.

Big & Bold

Full bodied wines that have concentrated fruit and are higher in alcohol and/or tannins. Some need age.

Winemaker's Notes

A ripe and fruity wine with notes of plums, blackberries, and cherries with good concentration, balance and length.

Primitivo and zinfandel are long lost cousins. Primitivo comes from the heel of Italy in the region of Puglia. This hearty southern Italian red wine has big intentions yet remains lighter and easier to drink than the average California zin. The alcohol percentage is a touch lower than most domestic zinfandels. This brings freshness to the wine and enables it to pair with food more easily. Drink this wine with your favorite items off the backyard grill. We love it with a grilled mushrooms or a tasty burger. Plus, you can never go wrong with this as your pizza wine!

The fruit stood out on this wine. Had this with a casual pizza dinner and it was nice. I think if I had decanted it longer perhaps it would have been even better.

The Montelpulciano grape is happiest here in Abruzzi and the wine is rustic, yet soft...
