Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

The 2010 Rompicollo offers an intense bouquet of ripe red cherries and other mature red fruits, the wine is well-balanced with good structure and length with fruity flavors.

Blend: 60% Sangiovese, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon

Critical Acclaim

"Ruby-red. Blackberry and licorice aromas are lifted by intense lavender, peony and clove notes. Juicy, tight and dry, displaying a delicate red plum character with aeration. Not a fleshy style but nicely vibrant. Finishes with mounting tannins that avoid dryness. This serious, well-made wine needs food--or time in the bottle."
