Pikes Hills and Valleys Riesling 2014
Riesling from Clare Valley, Australia
Brilliant pale green with a fresh, vibrant nose displaying aromas of lemon, granny smith apple and some perfume and floral notes. Hills & Valley Riesling is fresh and crisp with a palate full of lemon, lime and apple flavors. The wine has a touch of sweetness balanced with nice acidity providing both length and structure to the soft finish.
Australian Wine Companion - "Green-quartz hue; an utterly delicious palate with abundant juicy lime and lemon fruit; its mouthfeel is particularly attractive, balance and length likewise."
The Wine Advocate - "The 2014 Hills & Valleys Riesling offers up fresh lime juice, yuzu and lemon notes on the nose plus a light dusting of white pepper. Refreshing and approachable on the light-bodied palate, this dry Riesling is balanced and finishes with good length. Rating: 90(+) Points."
Wine Enthusiast - "Despite its modest alcohol level, this bottling speaks of ripe fruit. Lime and bergamot aromas bring a floral element, while the flavors are of tangerine and nectarine. A touch of residual sugar adds roundness to the mouthfeel."

The brothers Pike seemingly can do no wrong. They get in right with immense consistency, even in the more challenging vintages. The vines are tended to by Andrew, the grapes are transformed into great wine by Neil. Neil makes wines that are simply difficult not to enjoy. For the serious wine drinker, they offer plenty of depth of character, structure and complexity. For the wine drinker who just wants a great bottle of wine at a reasonable price, they deliver every time. The easy going nature of the Pike brothers is clearly reflected in their wines. About AustraliaLike the United States, which is about the same size, Australia's winemaking regions are huddled into one or two pockets of the country. The state of South Australia, which produces about 60% of the country's wine, also has the most wineries and sub-regions, including McLaren Vale, Clare Valley, Coonawarra and Barossa Valley. New South Wales is home to the Hunter Valley, while the smaller, southern state of Victoria is best known for theYarra Valley. Head way west to the very large state of Western Australia and you'll find the tiny region of Margaret River at the southern tip.
