Winemaker's Notes:
The inherent quality of the Pewsey Vale vineyard is a reflection of the altitude and the low, grey sandy loam soils. This will be remembered as a text book vintage for white wine in the Eden Valley. After a windy flowering period, naturally low crops were set. Weather remained mild and dry over a long and even ripening period, with the lowest January temperatures on record experienced. This resulted in healthy vines that produced grapes with high natural acid, concentrated flavour and excellent quality.
Pewsey Vale Riesling is pale straw in colour with lively green hues.
The aroma is classic Eden Valley Riesling - intense limes and lemon zest
dominate with a hint of talc. The palate shows great length and depth with
limes and grapefruit flavours finishing with a refreshing lemon acidity
adding balance. This wine will benefit from medium to long-term cellaring. |
