Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

Distinctly intense and powerfully hedonistic aromas of lychee nuts, citrus and rose petals come to mind with a background of mineral, nutmeg and a final touch of cedar. Weighty in the mouth and creamy, the palate is rich and seamless. High natural acidity and notes of brioche and pain grille complete the mouthfeel.

Critical Acclaim

"The Chardonnay Belle Cote is always a more exotic wine. There are 2,200 cases of the 2005 Chardonnay Belle Cote, a wine with undeniable notes of crushed stones, white peach, orange, nectarine, and quince. Medium to full-bodied, with zesty acidity, stunning minerality, and a firm structure, this is a gorgeous, French-styled Chardonnay..."
95 Points

"Hazy pale gold. Explosively perfumed nose, with intense iodine and smoke notes accenting ripe orange and pear aromas. Remarkably concentrated citrus and mineral flavors are deepened by sweet butter, smoked meat and an exotic cherry pit note. Really stains the palate and finishes on a zesty citrus pith note, with outstanding persistence."
93 Points

"Aromas of ripe pear, peach and melon carry over to the palate in a clean, refreshing manner. Turns elegant and refined, ending with a dash of oak and mineral."

The atmosphere of Sonoma is decidedly laid back and down home country style. But in wines, they are keeping up with the...
