Red wines that are more fruit-forward and lighter in tannin and body.
Medium bodied reds that go down easy, with smooth tannins and supple fruit.
Wines where earthy and/or spicy dominate the flavors – typically medium to full body.
Full bodied wines that have concentrated fruit and are higher in alcohol and/or tannins. Some need age.
The color is beautiful dark cherry with a rich garnet rim. The nose is all deep chocolate, dark forest fruits with some spicy notes. The palate is richly opulent, beautifully structured with layered, fully integrated tannins supporting the depth of fruit. It is truly a "Royal" wine from a great red wine vintage year. It is a limited edition classical Barossa Shiraz from low-yielding vineyards.
Eight Songs Shiraz sings with rare roast beef, rich casseroles, beef and game pies, and, of course, a great aged cheddar.
"Bright colour; dark savoury fruit of mocha, blackberry and some mulberry is supported amply by well-handled toasty oak; the palate is also dark and thickly textured; a complex, well-constructed wine."
Australian Wine Companion
"Matured 18 months in French oak, this rich, velvety-textured Shiraz shows plenty of vanilla influence as a result. But there’s also plenty of ripe blackberry fruit, and the overall impression is of a lush, fruity wine that would make a lovely steakhouse red. "
"Deep ruby. Powerful cherry and plum aromas are deepened by dark chocolate and espresso, not to mention a sexy undertone of oak spice. Fleshy and smooth, with deep, sweet dark fruit liqueur flavors, supple texture and good mineral lift. Juicy black raspberry and cherry compote flavors carry through a long, sappy finish. This is already very easy to drink."
