Winemaker's Notes:
Wine Spectator Top 100 of 2006!
"Large-scale red with dark, meaty aromas
and thickly layered blackberry, currant,
beef, tar and mineral notes. Plenty of
toast, but more than enough fruit and
flesh for balance..." -Wine Spectator
"A blockbuster wine is the 2004 Perrin Vacqueyras Les Christins Vieilles Vignes from a 20-acre single vineyard planted with old vines, 80% Grenache and 20% Syrah. This is superb stuff, opulent, full-bodied, with notes of garrigue, black cherry liqueur, raspberries, licorice, and pepper. Dense, full, rich, and chewy, this is a beauty to drink over the next 7-8 years." -Wine Advocate 90-93 Points
Clearly a wine from a warm place, with its amber hues and richness of texture. The nose is reminiscent of morello cherries, flowers and liquorice. On the palate it shows an unctuous texture and is rich and concentrated.
This is a fine bottle from a great terroir. It will go perfectly with beef, lamb and dishes containing black truffles.
Grape varieties: 75% Grenache, 25% Syrah. |
