Winemaker's Notes:

 The fruit for this wine came from the Cromwell basin (80%) and the Gibbston Valley (20%) The 2006 growing season provided the perfect growing conditions for premium Pinot Noir resulting in Peregrine's earliest harvest to date.

The wine was pressed to French oak barrels (35% new) where it spent 10 months. The wine was racked from barrel and lightly filtered before being bottled.

The 2006 Peregrine Pinot Noir has great depth of color. The nose has mocha, fresh fruit and spice while the palate overflows with dark fruits such as plums and cherries, spice and ample tannin to match the fruit and insure the wine will last for years to come.

About Peregrine:

 Greg Hay, proprietor of Peregrine, is a Central Otago native who started up Chard Farm winery some 18 years ago, pioneering wines in this region. Greg oversees current production of 8,000 cases of Pinot Noir and 3,000 cases of Pinot Gris. Greg and friends are unabashed Pinot Noir fanatics with a simple goal in mind: produce the finest Pinot Noir in New Zealand. The Peregrine vineyard sites are distributed throughout Central Otago in sub-regions of Lowburn, Bendigo, Northburn and Gibbston. The Region is situated on the 45th parallel, a similar latitude to Bordeaux and Oregon with a semicontinental climate - hot, dry summers and cold, dry winters.
