Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

Dolcetto di Dogliani San Luigi is ruby red with a flavor of raspberry, spices and ripe fruit. The palate is fresh and elegant with a pleasant finish. Perfect with pasta with red sauce, meat, cheese and salami.

Critical Acclaim

"A racy, taut raspberry- and wild cherry-infused red, this is intense and structured. There's a touch of tea and solid grip on the finish. Best from 2012 through 2015."
89 Points

"Pecchenino's 2009 Dolcetto di Dogliani San Luigi offers up plump, juicy dark fruit with excellent varietal character in an accessible, mid-weight style. Floral notes add lift on the fresh, vinous finish. This is an excellent choice for drinking over the next few years."
