Winemaker's Notes:

Developing rapidly in barrel at this time - the Napa Valley Chardonnay is showing much of the character it will contain upon release this fall. It is typically one of the most forward of the Chardonnay wines, and has great pear, mango aromas along with nice freshening acidity. It is a big, rich wine with plenty of life ahead of it. Production for 2000 is about the same as in 1999. This vintage includes grapes from Hyde Vineyard and Caldwell Vineyard that have been the longtime core of this blend as well as from Atlas Peak Vineyard and Carr Vineyard fruit. It has gorgeous aromas of mango, lemon drops and roasted hazelnut - with multidimensional textures and flavors of mango, peach, spice-box and after-bursts of buttered toast. It should drink well after release and gain in the bottle for 3-5 years if properly cellared.

About Patz & Hall:

Patz and Hall Wine Company was founded in 1988 by Donald Patz, James Hall, Anne Moses and Heather Patz, and is dedicated to the production of hand-crafted wines. The four are long-time Napa Valley residents and wine industry professionals, with a wide variety of experiences. Patz and Hall produces Chardonnay and Pinot Noir wines from selected vineyard sources in Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino and Monterey counties. The Patz and Hall method is to work closely with each of their growers to achieve a unique expression of the vineyard site and deliver wines that reflect both the site and their vision for great wine.
