Great balance, with plum, blackberry flavours followed by chocolaty vanilla oak. Best enjoyed with big rich meat dishes or simple cheeses.
"Like the 2003, this is a big, no-holds-barred Shiraz. The 2005 is packed with cassis and blueberry fruit, framed by chocolate and vanilla notes and finishes with plenty of spicy complexity and some slightly rough tannins. Drink 2010–2020. A Top 100 Wines of 2008 Selection."
"Inky ruby. Intensely aromatic bouquet of boysenberry, kirsch, Asian spices and musky underbrush. Round and fleshy, with deeply concentrated dark berry flavors, supple tannins and a slow-building smoked meat quality. Finishes with palate-staining length. Very impressive."
International Wine Cellar
"Opaque purple, it has a fragrant perfume of cedar, pepper, blueberry and blackberry. Full-bodied and supple-textured, on the palate the wine is nicely balanced with excellent depth, well-concealed tannin, and a 45-second finish. This elegant effort will evolve with another 4-6 years of bottle age."
The Wine Advocate
"Medium-bodied, well balanced and structured; a gentle array of black fruits with tannins and oak in the background, good length and will develop further in bottle."
Australian Wine Companion
"Firm in texture, this full-bodied red has lively acidity balancing chewy plum and blackberry flavors. Hints at grapefruit peel as the finish lingers beautifully. Best after 2008. 650 cases imported."

The intensity and individuality of the fruit is born from the locations it comes from, the absence (where possible) of irrigation and total care and attention to detail, this is an impossibility when machines are used for pruning and picking.
Several passes of each vine are made every year, ensuring there is no shading of fruit, the correct number of canes are selected and it is ensured that they are in the most beneficial position.
