Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

This wine has a complete harmony in color, with a deep, bright red combined with violet hints. Characterized by fruity aromas, blackberry and spices. The mouth has sweet tannins with presence of spices from oak. All these notes give elegance and complexity to this wine of good persistent.

Critical Acclaim

"The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve spent 12 months in 80% new American oak. The aromatics are currently a bit reticent, but with coaxing reveal notes of cedar, spice box, and black fruits. In the glass it displays a firm structure but is narrow across the palate. It requires another 2-3 years of cellaring, at which point it will have hopefully filled out, but that is not a sure thing.

Excellent value. Very drinkable Cab worthy of a steak but worth enjoying without food. What a bargain!

When he arrived in Argentina, he settled in Mendoza. As he had been closely involved in the development of his family...

Learn About Argentina

(ahr-jen-TEE-nah) Now fifth in the world for wine production, Argentina is catching up in the quality wine sector. Yet it's hard not to get caught up in the wine market of the world and some...

Perhaps that title is due to its ability to grow worldwide in a number of climates, or to the fact that it produces wine with such character yet such diversity. Either way, this grape is responsible, as a whole or a partner, for some of the greatest wines in the world. In Bordeaux,...
