Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

Following the success of the well-received 2009 vintage of this wine, receiving 93 points from Wine Spectator and named #25 on their Top 100 list, Owen Roe is happy to release the latest edition of this remarkable Syrah.

Notes of pink peppercorn, stewed raspberry, rose petal and baking spices greet the nose. Flavors of bing cherry, white pepper, cedar, eucalyptus and plum create a lasting impression on the palate and are graced by bright acidity and a fine tannin structure.

Critical Acclaim

"A velvety red, offering ripe cherry, licorice and green olive flavors that come together on the firm-textured finish and linger nicely, balancing fruit and savory notes."
90 Points

"Bright red with ruby highlights. Plush and sweet but sappy too, with a distinctly low-pH mouthfeel to the cool flavors of berries, licorice, flowers and garrigue. Very suave syrah in an approachable style, finishing with restrained sweetness, rather light tannins and very good length."
90 Points
