Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

The 2009 Puligny Montrachet is full bodied and elegant on the palate. Flavors of mineral, green apple and honey combine perfectly with lightly toasted oak and vanilla in a young, tightly wound package. The wine finishes with crisp, balanced acidity.

Critical Acclaim

"A classic and ripe Puligny nose features aromas of acacia blossom, lemon and spiced pear that merge into seductively textured, round and supple medium-bodied flavors that possess really lovely depth and length. This is quite stylish as well as unusually classy, particularly for a villages level wine.

Learn About Olivier Leflaive Map ItMap It

Olivier Leflaive was formed in 1984 by Olivier and his brother Patrick. Unlike a conventional negociant who buys finished wines, the firm actually vinifies a wide range of Burgundian appellations from grapes and must (or juice) and now owns 25 acres. Under the supervision of winemaker Franck Grux, the wines are vinified, blended, and aged exactly as they would be at a top-rank domaine.
