Starting rather muted on the nose, the Nelson power is on the blackcurrant and green apple fruit palate. The fruit is understated, but the juicy, sinewy quality hints that the wine will open and become richer.

This entry-level bottling from Seifried is a solid Sauvignon Blanc in its own right, combining aromas and flavors of barely ripe nectarines, struck flint and fresh herbs. It shows a bit of austerity and restrain in the mouth, then ends on subtle grapefruit and wet-stone notes. Drink now.

Sun and blue skies all year round, nearby mountains (often snow capped), lakes, forests and beaches, the most beautiful winemaking region in New Zealand - this is Nelson. Still frosty winters, long dry summers, cool autumn nights combined with the highest sunshine hours in New Zealand - this is Nelson.
Pristine conditions, along with specially selected north facing vineyard sites, offer a range of soils from free draining gravels to heavy alluvial clays and a climate tailor-made for growing richly varietal, elegant wines.
Recognized for its distinctively herbaceous and aromatic, Sauvignon Blanc, New Zealand is perfectly suited to the grape with its maritime climate, plenty of rainfall and abundant sunshine. Producers have almost unilaterally embraced cutting-edge winery technology, resulting in clean, high-quality wines at every price point from wallet-friendly to premium. Sauvignon blanc is at its best in Marlborough but thrives throughout as the country. It is New Zealand’s most planted and successful variety, also accounting for an overwhelming majority of its exports.
