The 2002 vintage of this wine was ranked #3 on the Wine Spectator's Top 10 Wines of 2004
Fresh and intense fruity aromas (raspberry, red currant, cherry) well integrated to a flower touch (violets, lavender) with a gentle spice & eucalyptus touch. The aromatic experience continues, the mouthfeel is silky and vibrant. After a persistent and intense attack, an explosion of fruit, the end of mouth is long and complex, with spices, tobacco, raspberry and blackberry notes. Drink until 2025.
"The 2008 Termanthia is a glass-coating opaque purple color. It reveals an already complex bouquet, rich, ripe fruit with underlying structure, and a more forward personality than is found in a great year such as 2004. This loaded effort will benefit from 6-8 years of cellaring and will offer a drinking window extending from 2017 to 2033."
The Wine Advocate
"Lush and classy, with earthy blackberry, hard spice, chocolate and lemon peel aromas. The palate is a mile deep and tannic, but it's not too hard or mean, and it tastes fantastic, with ripe blackberry, chocolate, spice and toast flavors. Complex and masculine, with tobacco and woodspice on the finish. Drink from 2012 through 2016."
"Glass-staining purple. An exotic and highly perfumed bouquet evokes candied dark berries, cherry, licorice, oak spices and potpourri. Pliant, palate-staining dark fruit flavors deliver an intriguing combination of power and energy, picking up spice and floral pastille qualities with air. Very smooth and seamless wine with strong finishing thrust and excellent persistence. I suspect that this will drink well soon."
International Wine Cellar
"This polished red is like ebony, dark, fine-grained and solid. Powerful yet sleek, with a core of cassis, plum and fig flavors wrapped in toast, licorice, espresso and graphite notes, supported by muscular, well-integrated tannins. Drink now through 2018."
