#33 Wine Spectator Top 100 of 2009
A blend of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc.
Rich and expressive with ripe blackberry, currant and spicy black cherry aromas and flavors. Well-balanced, with plenty of dark fruit flavors lingering across a lengthy, expressive finish.
The Columbia Valley is a diverse growing region that provides a wide range of fruit expression by variety allowing the winemaker to craft rich, multi-layered wines by blending grapes from unique vineyards throughout the region. Vineyard sources that give this wine its richness and complexity include our estate vineyard, Stillwater Creek, and such well-known Columbia Valley vineyards as Seven Hills and Red Mountain, among others. The Cabernet Sauvignon is aged 20-months in predominantly French oak barrels; both new, and one-year-old.
Dense and chewy, but with a nice lift of acidity and freshness as the finish rolls in, framing the cherry, blackberry, coffee and smoke flavors as they linger expressively. Best from 2011 through 2018."
"The 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley reveals darker fruits than the Merlot as well as greater structure. Ripe, spicy, and flavorful on the palate, it will continue to open over the next 2-3 years and offer prime drinking from 2011 to 2018. "
The Wine Advocate
This wine is excellent! It is alittle dry and has a bite when you first start to drink, but it goes down the tongue very smooth and mello. We love it and so do our guests.
Great value cab. While it may not have the complexity a harder (or more expensive) cab might have, worth every cent.
Medium/full bodied with a very rich mouthfeel. Intense notes of cherry and vanilla with the oak providing a firm foundation without getting in the way. Reminds me of th 05 St. Clement Oroppas.
