Nickel & Nickel Quarry Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2008
Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley, California
Multiple layers of ripe fruit blend nicely with an array of earth, herb, tobacco and char. This wine has an incredible texture, which is soft, yet thick, from front to finish. The French oak adds sweetness and cigar-like qualities, while the fruit persists on velvet tannins into a long, supple finish.
The Wine Advocate - "The 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon Quarry Vineyard reveals gorgeous depth in an understated, cool style. The Quarry is all about delineation and subtlety, both of which it has in spades. Mint, violet and cassis are some of the nuances that come to life in the glass as this elegant, finessed wine shows off its class and pedigree. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2028."
Wine Enthusiast - "Really tannic now, with a mouth-numbing astringency that accentuates the dryness and makes the mouthfeel rather rasping. However, There's no question about the depth of flavor. This 100% Cabernet is vast in sweet blackberries and cassis, with an earthy undertone of herbs and minerality. Cellar Selection."

About Napa Valley
Notable FactsWithin the Napa Valley lie smaller sub-AVAs that lend even more character specifics to the wines. Furthest south is Carneros, followed by Yountville, Oakville & Rutherford. Above those two is St.-Helena and finally, just grated an AVA, Calistoga. These areas are situated on the valley floor and are known for creating rich, smooth Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Chardonnay. There are a few mountain regions as well, nestled on the slopes overlooking the valley AVAs. Those include Howell Mountain, Stags Leap and Mount Veeder. Wines from the mountain regions are often more structured and firm, benefiting from more time in the bottle to evolve and soften.
About CaliforniaIt's not rare to see a wine's country of origin listed as "California." A country into itself in the wine world, California makes enough varieties and styles to match many European wine countries. It produces a diverse range of wines that span the quality spectrum.
