We always seem to make our best wines in the years marked by a cool summer in the Napa Valley, and so it was in 2009 -- especially for our Merlot. The 2009 Merlot is a wine dark in color, high in natural fruit acidity, and full of the complex flavors that accompany ideal ripening. Merlot is enjoying a revival of late, as wine lovers return to the elegant wines that can be produced from this grape. It is, after all, the source of both Chateau Petrus and Chateau Trotanoy, two of the wine world's greatest treasures.
"Dark red. Sexy aromas of red cherry, mocha and caramel, lifted by a floral nuance. Silky and lush in the mouth, with lovely aromatic perfume to the flavors of cherry, raspberry, flowers, cocoa and dusty spices. A nicely balanced, lively merlot that finishes with a fine dusting of suave tannins and subtle persistence."
