Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

The 2010 Napa Cellars Merlot boasts lifted aromas of toasty baking spices, vanilla, malt and fresh, ripe plums. The full-bodied wine has flavors of warm mixed berry compote with juicy blueberry, blackberry and cherry notes. Plush on the palate with a well balanced structure this Merlot has firm tannins and a long finish with hints of dark chocolate and toffee that linger.

Critical Acclaim

"A solid Merlot, offering good balance and notes of black currant, cedar and spice flavors. Drink now through 2017."
