This is the third release of Shiraz under the Mr. Riggs label, and as with the 2001 and 2002 wines, is based around a core of pristine fruit with dark red berries, hints of spice, earth, tar and leather and with seamlessly integrated oak. Ripe tannins are apparent but not overwhelming, meaning this is a wine which can be enjoyed now or in the next 10-15 years.
The Wine Advocate Issue 155 10/25/04 Robert Parker 92 pts "Denser, more tannic, rich, and full is the 2003 Shiraz. Aged 18 months in French Oak (40% new), its deep purple colour is accompanied by sweet aromas of creosote, black fruits, liquorice, and earth. With full body, good definition, and an opulent finish, it can be consumed over the next decade."
