Wines where earthy and/or spicy dominate the flavors – typically medium to full body.

Alcohol By Volume: 14.0%

Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

The aroma is that of a classic Pinot Noir, with very floral notes with hints of violets and berries. To the palate, fine vanilla tastes and a medium body. A very satisfying wine with long, smooth and elegant finish. Few minutes of decanting is recommended.

Critical Acclaim

"Smells good and true, with dry spice and catchy red-fruit aromas. The palate is solid but not at all heavy, with lively red berry and exotic spice flavors. Lengthy and pure through the long finish, and overall this is the best Montes Pinot we've come across and also one of the best from Chile."
89 Points

"Good Pinot character, some elegance, sweet red fruits, silky, good balance and length."

Learn About Chile

(CHEE-lay) Long and thin, Chile has a lot of land north to south. The wine region here is a series of districts based near Santiago. This could help explain why the climate changes more from east to west than north to south - also why the country has remained phylloxera free....

Pinot Noir hails from Burgundy, a region known for crafting the most collectible and sought-after wines from this varietal. Not only does Pinot reign in Burgundy, it is also...
