Winemaker's Notes

A clear, crispy and fruity wine with light yellow-green color, bright and transparent. The aroma shows its power and super Sauvignon Blanc character, also showing the full potential of its cold zone origin, with morning fogs, low temperatures and long hanging period.

Critical Acclaim

"A very crisp and minerally style, with a prominent chalky edge that carries the flint, chive and fleur de sel notes. Very lengthy. From Chile. Drink now. 23,000 cases made. "
90 Points

"The 2008 Sauvignon Blanc Limited Selection is from cool-climate Leyda. Grass, fresh herbs, gooseberry, and grapefruit make up the enticing aromatics. With greater depth and concentration than its less expensive cousin, it is worth the extra premium in price. "
90 Points

"While this wine's aromas lean toward the herbal and citrus side of sauvignon, its flavors run closer to stoniness. A robust sauvignon framed by clear, sharp acidity. For ceviche. "

One of my favorite Sauvignon Blancs. Very consistent. For better or worse I get it a dollar cheaper from my local grocery delivery, and less risk of damage from the shipping.

The vineyards are protected by the Pacific on the west and the Andes mountains on the east. This could help explain why the climate changes more from east to west than north to south - also why the country has remained phylloxera free....
