Winemaker's Notes

Deep red with violet highlights. Pure and complex, the black fruit, cherry, and hot stones, are released with a bit of aeration. The dense and velvety body fills the palate and reveals notes of cacao, dried herbs and pencil lead. The fresh and fruity finish is heightened by mineral notes and fine tannins.

Critical Acclaim

"The sexy, medium to full-bodied 2010 Nostre Pais Rouge exhibits velvety tannins along with copious garrigue, lavender, licorice, black currant, cherry, kirsch and spice box characteristics. This luscious, fruit forward, undeniably seductive red is composed of 35% Grenache, 25% Carignan, 20% Mourvedre, 15% Cinsault and 5% Syrah. Aged six months in French oak, mostly on its lees, the price point is ridiculous for a wine of this quality. It is best drunk over the next 1-2 years. "

In the northern Vaucluse, on the right bank of the Rhone river lies the village of Visan where the legendary mistral winds of Provence sweep over the vines. The Latin name for these north-northwest winds is CERCIUS – the defining feature and raison d'etre for partners Michel Gassier, Philippe Cambie and Eric Solomon to launch this new project. Between the brisk winds and an elevation of 400 meters, the grapes' freshness is protected and then preserved during vinification in concrete tanks.
