This wine shows the concentration, dark color and depth of flavor that were the hallmarks of 1997 reds in Napa Valley. Selected from lots of wine made from vineyards from St. Helena in the north, to Carneros in the south, 1997 saw an embarrassment of riches in the Bordeaux reds. Massive, yet supple, the wines were also abundant, putting the lie to sweeping generalizations about the relationship of crop yield to wine quality.
