Wines where earthy and/or spicy dominate the flavors – typically medium to full body.

Alcohol By Volume: 14.2%

Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

Soft garnet in color, delicate aromatics of oolong tea, mandarin orange, gardenia and sandalwood spring from the glass. Fruit components of pomegranate reduction, currants and guava weave along the palate with spice and herbal notes of pink peppercorn, thyme, clove and fennel seed. The mouthfeel is plush and velvety yet finishes with elegance and drive.

Critical Acclaim

"This shows the elegance of Santa Rita Hills Pinot Noir. Dry and crisp in acidity, it has complex layers of sour cherry candy, white pepper and sandalwood, plus a touch of green herb. It evolves as it airs in the glass."

Style: Smooth & Supple
An excellent example of a bold, yet balanced California Coastal Pinot noir. Slightly concentrated medium red fruit, velvety and smooth. Not a light Pinot in taste or texture, but with an elegant, brief finish.
