Beautiful deep red and blue colors describe this opulent aromatic wine. Red nuances of
sandalwood, cherry pie, currants, rhubarb and jaimaca are interwoven with hints of
jasmine, Darjeeling tea, cocoa-powder, red-hot apples, holiday spice and cherry bark. The
palate impressions are generous and envelopes your entire mouth in a suave and sultry
manner. The finish is both elegant and full-bodied.
"The biggest production item at Melville is the 2008 Pinot Noir Estate (5,525 cases). Readers looking for a top-notch Pinot Noir at a realistic price should check this wine out. Terrific raspberry and blackberry fruit intermixed with some boysenberry and underbrush notes jump from the glass of this deep ruby/purple-tinged wine. Medium to full-bodied, it is seriously packed with silky tannins and good vibrancy and delineation. This is an impressive wine made for those loving more of the black raspberry/boysenberry character of Pinot. It should drink well for 5-6 years.
The Wine Advocate
"Bright ruby. Sexy, smoky aromas of red fruits, baking spices and musky herbs. Spicy and concentrated, with an enticing sweetness and good stuffing to its red and dark berry flavors. Dense and expressive but lively, with very good finishing clarity and lingering spiciness."
