Deep garnet color. Luxurious and dynamic aromas of ripe strawberry, bright cherry and faint notes of spicy oak and vanilla. The complexity of the palate smoothly layers rich red currant notes and baking spice flavors with light smoke, earth and leather. A balanced, velvety texture and supple tannins carry the wine through to a lingering, succulent finish.
I am typically not a big fan of many California Pinot Noir wines because they are very heavily oaked and very high in alcohol content. But this is an exception! The oak, what little there is, is very well integrated. I taste sweet berry fruits with vanilla and baking spices, a very mellow wine in the glass. Totally gulpable!!
This Pinot Noir is one of the smoothest buttery wines we've had. We've ordered the equivalent of two cases in separate orders now. We've also shared with many others.
I really got this case to hold for awhile and let it age. But I decided I ought to see how it tastes so I'd know how long to age it. It's already great! I'll have to get some more if I want to try aging them.
