Wine Style Guide

Light & Fruity

Red wines that are more fruit-forward and lighter in tannin and body.

Smooth & Supple

Medium bodied reds that go down easy, with smooth tannins and supple fruit.

Earthy & Spicy

Wines where earthy and/or spicy dominate the flavors – typically medium to full body.

Big & Bold

Full bodied wines that have concentrated fruit and are higher in alcohol and/or tannins. Some need age.

Alcohol By Volume: 14.5%

Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

Deep purple in color with bright hues, the McManis Family Vineyards Petite Sirah is full of boysenberry and blueberry fruit aromas. Mocha notes contributed from oak aging are also present. The wine is big, rich and full of juicy red and black fruit flavors.

Critical Acclaim

"Loaded with plump, jammy fruit and furry grip of a young petite, this has more to it than just purple saturation. Scents of nut skin and white pepper carry into the wine's earthy tannins, resulting in a texture that's vibrant rather than heavy. For roast beef.

My go-to red. Big, Bold, Frutiy, spicy. Love this wine and it's consistent bottle to bottle. I always buy more than one bottle at a time to have in queue during a gathering as having to turn to any other red, just doesn't cut it.
