Winemaker's Notes:

Mawson's wines come from Wrattonbully, which is situated about 300 km south east of Adelaide and about 30 km north of Coonawarra. The climate is a balance between those of the viticultural regions of Coonawarra and Padthaway.

Crimson red in color and displays intense aromas of lively red fruit pastille married with attractive nutty oak nuances. The palate opens with bright cherry and raspberry fruits melding with cedar and oak on the mid-palate and finishing with refreshing light astringency.

An excellent match with roast leg of lamb. Also suitable for vegans and vegetarians.

My Notes:

About Mawson's:

One of Australia's finest explorers, Sir Douglas Mawson inspired the world with his courage and heroic feats. Yalumba was proud to be a sponsor of Mawson's pioneering Antarctic expeditions in 1911-14. In honour of the winery's historic association with this great Australian hero, Yalumba has released Mawson's, a rich and complex wine displaying generous ripe berry flavors complemented by spicy French oak.
