Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

Mid-weight, bright ruby red in color. Interesting complexity on the nose, where violets and ripe red fruit are the dominant aromas. Good structure and excellent balance of freshness from the acidity with soft tannins. Plums and raspberries with hints of vanilla on the palate with an attractive length.

Versatile enough to go with many dishes. Perfect with soups, pasta and risottos. Very good both with simple and more substantial dishes based on red meat, or with fresh cheeses.
