Alcohol By Volume: 12.8%

Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.
Ratings Pedigree:

Winemaker's Notes

Produced under the stringent rules of the Rias Baixas Denominacion de Origen (DO), Martin Codax Albarino is thoroughly food friendly, and designed to be consumed young. This is an aromatic wine, elegant, dry and crisp on the finish. The key aromatic and flavor notes are pear, passion fruit and apple. Acidity is bright and integrates well with aromatic elements into a balanced whole. Albarino stands on its own as an aperitif but reaches its glory stage when matched with food. This is not only because of the firm acidity, but also because of the wine's mouth-engaging fullness. Seafood, poultry, light salads, and lightly-sauced pastas are only a few of the many possibilities.

Critical Acclaim

"A little leesy on the nose, but mostly it's forward and lemony. The palate is citric and crips as a whistle, with lemon, green apple and a secondary sweetness akin to pineapple. Focused and clean on the finish: chiseled and defined."

Weak flavor and very light body. Would not buy again. No cork and sorry I purchase so many.
