Winemaker's Notes:

Number 58 on the Wine.com 100 of 2007!

"One of my favorite Marquis Philips cuvees is the 2005 Sarah’s Blend, a concoction of 60% Shiraz, 22% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, and 3% Cabernet Franc fermented in wood and aged in both new and one-year-old French and American oak. Its deep ruby/purple hue is accompanied by aromas of flowers, spice box, blueberries, black currants, and smoky oak. Opulent, voluptuous, and full-bodied, with low acidity and sweet tannin, this is a blockbuster red that sells for a song. If you like fruit, flavor, and character, this is a big-time winner to drink over the next 3-4 years."

About Marquis Phillips:

Marquis Philips is a collaboration between Australian winemakers Sarah and Sparky Marquis and U.S. importer Dan Philips to produce exceptional wines. The mythological creature on the front label, the Roogle, represents the lasting friendship and the shared destiny that link the two countries.

The first range of wines that were released is what is called the SEA range and comprises a Shiraz, Cabernet, Merlot & Sarah’s Blend. The philosophy for this range of wines was to develop the rich fruit depth, structure and distinctive varietal characteristics that Sarah and Sparky’s wines have become renowned for, and to release them at an every day drinking price.

The wines are styled so that they can be consumed for both the present and also to be able to mature into the future. They will always, both young and aged, show these balanced rich fruit characteristics throughout the palate.
