Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

A black-cherry colored wine with slight violet hues. High aromatic intensity, with aromas of ripe dark fruit, fine smoked notes with toasted aromas coming through. On the palate it is meaty and crisp, with a presence of well-polished tannins. Moderate acidity, with a long, pleasant finish in which the oak can be detected more distinctly.

I bought this wine simply because I love tempranillo wines. I have bought a few that were a bit disappointing, and could not reach that wonderful first impression I had when I initially tasted wine made from this grape. The original bottle I tried was $50, and I didn't want to spend that every time I wanted tempranillo. I found this wine at an organic food store and bought it because of its age and price. I must say that this surpassed even my first experience. Smooth and balanced, I hope to find this again soon!

Pleasantly surprised with this Tempranillo. Usually drink blends and Cabs. Great price for such a tasty wine.

This wine was rough to start. Opened it up 2 hours before serving. It needed the vinturi twice to improve, still needed to go through the vinturi another time upon serving. Of the 9 Tempranillos we poured at our party this was one of the least favorite.
