The reserva wines of Marqués de Riscal are made from Tempranillo grapes sourced from vines of between 15 and 30 years old. This is a variety that ages well in wood, producing wines with a good tannic structure, colour and acidity during the ageing process. The reserva wines of Marques de Riscal spend approximately 2 years in American oak barrels, producing a style that adheres to the principles of classic Rioja wines.
The aroma of raisiny fruit with a touch of fresh liqueur is reminiscent of morello cherries.
The wine exhibits an intense garnet red colour, dark in the centre of the glass. In the mouth, the fruit is well balanced by subtle acidity and tannins, with elegant notes of toasty oak on the smooth, mellow finish.
