2008 is one of Marimar Estate's greatest vintages and this barrel selection of Cristina packs a myriad aromas of rasberry, rose petal, cinnamon, clove and a trave of orange peel. The palate is full-flavored, intense and mouthwatering, with hints of moka and spice from the elegant, toasty oak. The supple tannins make it a delightful wine to drink right now, but it will age well for at least another 20 years.
"The winery held this back an additional six months after their other 2008 Pinots were released, presumably to let it become integrated. Still, it's quite tannic, with a sandpaper-like toughness. Despite the astringency, the massive wild-cherry, cola, mushroom and anise flavors come through. It's a huge wine, feral and untamed—quite exquisite in its wildness."
"Deep red. Smoke- and herb-accented aromas of cherry-cola and dark berries, with a peppery note adding vibrancy. Fleshy and broad on the palate, offering dense black raspberry and bitter cherry flavors and a hint of candied rose. The smoky note comes back on the very persistent finish, which features supple tannins and a sexy floral quality. Nothing shy about this one."
