This bottling of Acero continues along the lines of its predecessor, with bright fruit in the nose reminiscent of Asian pear and fresh apples. It is crisp and vibrant in the mid palate, with great balance, full flavors and a dry, long finish. It is easy to drink and perfect with foods like tapas and light dishes.

The Russian River Valley is named as such due to its proximity to the Russian River, the river itself named for the Russian fur traders who came down from Alaska in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. The Russian River is agricultural land. While there is a focus on wine, beyond the vineyards are many small, family-owned farms cultivating everything from cattle to Christmas trees.
Notable FactsThe proximity of this cool river and the rolling fogs from the Pacific Ocean make the area amenable to cool-climate grapes like Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. In fact, the region is quite known for its full-bodied, yet elegant Pinot Noir, as well as their ripe, yet lean Chardonnays. Within Russian River Valley lie the smaller appellations of Chalk Hill and Green Valley. Chalk Hill is the warmer of the two and furthest from the ocean, while Green Valley is cooler and closer to the water.

Apple and pear aromas with some tropical fruit components in the background. Pear, peach, and apple flavors with a light touch of creaminess. A lovely wine that does not need any oak to provide complexity. Second day similar to the first. Medium body, nicely balanced, modest but nice finish. Who needs oak with a Chardonnay this good?410/3/2012

Had a very complex taste one you need to drink slowly to appreciate, it was a little smooth and creamy but not too much, could tast the light fruit but again also not too much. Finsihes well and a bottle that would pair well with quite a bit as it hard to categorize but overall very good.58/16/2012

Sits well on the palate with a very good finishing taste.WildeWine - Brooklyn, NY47/31/2012As noted, there's definitely no oak. This crisp chardonnay has ripen fruit and bright acidity. I don't taste as much creaminess described by the wine critic. Paired nicely with spinach stuffed chicken breast.
