Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

We set out to make the ultimate Syrah. The result is a wine with tremendous structure, length, and complexity. 2007 was one of the most perfect vintages we have ever worked with.

ÜBER is a synonym for super; e.g. ubercool. We began calling the wine ÜBER because of the intense multifaceted flavors it produced and for just how cool the whole idea is/was.

Critical Acclaim

"This is a co-fermentation of grapes from five vineyards for 60 days. A wine with super fine tannins and wonderful spicy and berry character. Grilled meat and fruit. So long and intense. Goes on for ages. Didn't make it in 2009 or 2010. Hard not to drink now."
94 Points

"Inky ruby. Powerful, pungent aromas of cassis, mulberry, smoky herbs, dried violet and anise, plus a hint of cracked pepper. Deeply flavored and chewy in texture, offering sweet dark berry compote flavors and complementary notes of floral pastilles and fruitcake. The smoky note returns on the finish, which is broad, gently sweet and very long. This has the power to handle the richest red meat dishes. "
92 Points

"Intense and complex, with ripe, rich, pure blackberry and wild berry flavors that are spicy and balanced, offering a touch of espresso and mocha and ending with a long, lingering finish. Drink now through 2017. 352 cases made."
